GLO Aloe Berry Elixir by Grace Van Berkum, R.H.N. Sweat Equity Magazine May/June 2013

An anti-inflammatory powerhouse smoothie with miraculous healing benefits. Everyone knows that aloe vera is great for sunburnt skin but this beautiful plant is amazing for both external and internal use.  According to Mike Adams, the famous Health Ranger, (www.naturalnews.com) aloe vera offers potent, natural medicine that nourishes the body with minerals, vitamins, and enzymes to help oxygenate the blood, reduce inflammation, soothe arthritis, ease constipation, heal digestion and ulcers, stabilize blood sugar, lower cholesterol, and alkalize the body to help promote healing of diseases. If you have an aloe plant, just cut off a leaf, and cut ALL the dark green skin off. Cut both spiky edges off first so you are left with dark green skin only on the top and bottom, which you cut off next. You will be left with the gooey aloe filet. This is gold! Put a chunk in your smoothie, and enjoy the healing goodness.   Cheers to the mighty aloe vera!

 Gracious Living Aloe Berry Elixir:

1 cup blackberries or blueberries 1 chunk of fresh aloe vera (contains 20 amino acids which are essential for the production of muscle tissue) 1 frozen banana 1 handful cashews or 1 tbsp cashew butter Natural sweetener of choice 1 tsp cinnamon powder 1/2- 1 tsp cardamom powder 2-3 cups water (or unsweetened almond milk for extra calcium and protein) 1 cup ice

*optional: add 1 serving of high quality greens powder to energize and detoxify (Sunwarrior Ormus Greens is my top pick) or add a handful of spinach

Blend till smooth and creamy. Absolutely delicious.  Drink regularly and watch the magic occur in your body and skin!
