"Gracious Living Green Coconut Power Smoothie" in SweatRX Mag (plus CHIA GEL recipe)

*1 serving Sunwarrior vanilla plantbased protein powder (for ultimate muscle recovery) *1 handful of dark green leafy vegetables (kale, spinach, swiss chard, arugula, dandelion, OR bok choy offers chlorophyll to oxygenate and energize the body) *1 cup pineapple (high in enzymes to reduce muscle inflammation) *1 frozen banana (creamy source of soluble fibre) *1/2 peeled cucumber (valuable source of conventional antioxidant nutrients including vitamin C, beta-carotene, and manganese *1 tbsp chia gel (see chia gel recipe below) *4 cups coconut water (ultimate electrolyte balance) *Big handful of ice

Blend till smooth and creamy. Excellent hydrating energy source that will accelerate muscle recovery.

BASIC CHIA GEL:

Soak 2 Tbsp of chia seed for 15 minutes in 1/2 cup of water to produce a nutritious chia gel that can be added to nearly any recipe significantly boosting nutrition.  Stir to avoid clumping.  Store in a container in fridge and use the gel in your daily smoothies, and other recipes.

Gracious Living chia gel

Chia seeds have hydrophilic properties, and can absorb 12 times its weight in water. This means chia seeds can prolong hydration, helping to retain moisture and regulate the body’s absorption of nutrients and body fluids more efficiently, including electrolyte balance.

Chia gel provides essential fats (EFAs), protein, complex carbohydrates, soluble fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients, and more.

Chia gel slows the conversion of carbohydrates into sugars, thereby regulating and sustaining healthy blood sugar levels in the body, as well as supporting normal insulin function (i.e., natural blood sugar regulation).
