SUPERFOOD AVOCADO (+ Nate The Great’s Avocado Dance)

My little nephew’s appetite has diminished since he started chemotherapy. My brother says he doesn’t like to eat like he used to and has become very picky. One thing that he absolutely loves though is avocados. He can eat them all day long! Great thing because avocados are one of the healthiest foods you can eat:

*Avocados provide close to 20 essential health-boosting nutrients, including potassium, vitamin E, B vitamins, and folic acid.

*Avocados are rich in cancer-fighting carotenoids, which are most plentiful in the dark-green portion of the flesh that’s closest to the skin.

*Avocados are even high in fiber, with about 4.6 grams in half an avocado. Fiber plays an essential role in your digestive, heart, and skin health, and may improve blood sugar control, weight management, and more, so when you eat avocados you’re really providing your body with a comprehensive package of nutrition.

*Studies also show that avocados help lower side effects of chemotherapy in some cells.

Kids are so innately smart, aren’t they?! Watch Nate do his avocado dance! This kid is the cutest, strongest kid ever! So proud to be his Auntie! (I am also happy to announce that Nate the Great is now CANCER-FREE, but still going through chemotherapy for another 18 months. You can read more about Nate’s story HERE.)
