PAPA
THE DOCUMENTARY

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE

PAPA is a captivating documentary that explores the depths of forgiveness, holistic care, and the enduring love of a daughter. Through Grace's journey as a holistic nutritionist, the film reveals the transformative power of a healthy lifestyle in the face of Alzheimer's disease. When Grace "love kidnaps" her father from a nursing home, their path to healing and reconciliation unfolds, offering profound insights into evolving societal perspectives on elder care and brain health. PAPA is a moving testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of holistic healing.

MEET PAPA AND GRACE

Papa was diagnosed with Alzheimers 10 years ago. 6 years ago his daughter Grace, took him out of his senior home, to take care of him in Nicaragua. She really just took him there to die peacefully in the tropics. What happened was something that no one expected, including Grace. He became brighter and sharper. He became happier, funnier, and more loving. He came back to life... just like a wilted flower that has been watered. This is their story of walking each other home.

A WORD FROM THE FILMMAKERS

Our film, PAPA, is a deeply personal tribute to the bond between a father and daughter and the power of love and holistic care in supporting those living with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Inspired by Grace’s journey caring for her father and filmmaker Maleena Pone’s experience watching her family care for her grandfather, this film not only tells their story but also shines a light on the quiet strength of unpaid carers everywhere.

We believe caregiving is a path that shouldn’t be walked alone.

That’s why, in 2025, we’re launching ‘The Carers Circle’ an online community offering practical advice, emotional support, and a space for carers to connect. If you’re interested in joining us and learning more, we invite you to register & donate.

Your support helps us continue this important work of honouring caregivers and creating much-needed spaces for connection.
